First card of 2010

I hope everyone enjoyed their new year celebrations.  We had a night in with a lovely meal, nice wine, played Mario Cart on the Wii and then toasted in the new year in our back garden watching all the local fireworks going off.  It was the first new years eve night that we can remember where we haven't gone out to a party, pub or held a party oursleves, and you know what, we really enjoyed it being just the two of us with Mollie and Felix of course.  We still didn't end up going to bed until 4 a.m. mind...lol.

Despite the late night/early morning I was up and about just before 9 a.m. and raring to get back in my craftroom after it's use as a spare bedroom over xmas.  And I was so looking forward to making something other than an xmas card, though I will do as I did last year and endeavour to create at least one xmas card a week, but I may just leave it a week or two before I get started...lol.  Now onto the card.....

My new/neglected stash is my new but very neglected Lili of the Valley stamp I bought at the NEC in November, I've also used some vellum which has been extremely neglected for the scalloped edge and image mount.

New Blog On The Block!!!

My 9 year old niece Emily has just started up her own little crafting blog with the help of her mum (Mel), if you have a few minutes spare I know she would love it if you would stop by and say hi.  I hear she has been busy crafting and hopefully later today she will be uploading some pics of her makes.

2 Challenges 1 Card - Sketch Saturday and Secret Crafter

Being very naughty again and combining a couple of challenges, but I go away on Thursday so I want to squeeze as many of my regular challenges in as I can, combining is better then not entering at all thats my theory anyway and I'm sticking to it...lol.

Anyway for my card I've followed this weeks fab sketch over on Sketch Saturday and combined it with this weeks theme over on Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge which is 'Stripes'.

The image is SN 'Claudia the Artist' coloured with copics and blender then a touch of sakura metallic gold on some detail. Chalked the background, stamped the sentiment and inked the edges and mounted on to pink cardstock from my scraps stash. Paper is K & Co, I bought a whole wad of these papers at the Harrogate Show, I love them so you'll be seeing a lot more of them I'm afraid. The pink scalloped banner is the same cardstock as image mount then layered some more of the K & Co paper then blue ribbed ribbon. Flowers are a Prima and another from my crafting stash. Finished with some card candy on each side. Below is the Sketch to follow this week on Sketch Saturday:

Charisma Cardz Challenge #2

The challenge over on Charisma Cardz this week was set by Leanne with the theme of 'Fantasy'.

Steve gave me a lovely fairy stamp for Christmas and I'd been waiting for a chance to use it.




I coloured her with copics (surprise, surprise..lol) then spent a good hour with my craft knife cutting her out. The paper is Dovecrafts ' Fantasy' range. Sat the image in the bottom corner using thick foam pads. The quote was from a google search of 'Fairy Quotes' and this quote is by Dainelle Steele and reads (incase you can't quite see it...) "If you see magic in a fairy tale, you can face the future". Chalked the background of the sentiment with green. The flowers were in my craft stash and then added a little bling with some pink and green gems.


Hope everyone's having a nice day, at least it's dry here for now, though a bit breezy, off to do a bit of shopping in a bit.

Thinking of a friend

I've a crafting friend who is going through a difficult time at the moment with her partner being in hospital, so I wanted to send a card wishing him a speedy recovery and and to let them know I'm thinking of them both. I've tried to keep it fairly simple with the sentiment being "You've been on my mind" and put some personal handwritten words inside the card. The flower is from another Penny Wessenauer decoupage sheet, I just love her sheets.
