There's a great sketch to follow this week over on A Spoon Full of Sugar, At first it looked quite complex, but I actually really enjoyed making this up.

Papers are from Papermania's 'Spring Burst', plain green and purple cardstock from my stash. Prima flowers with card candy centres. Sentiment from craftwork cards inked edges in purple. Finished with more card candy.

You've also have a few days left to take part in the latest FF Challenge, so if you do buy some new papers, what better way to try them out.

The other exciting FF news is that Ria and Shaz are looking for 3 new members for the FF shop DT. Do you fancy it?? Well hop over to Funky Fairy Inspirations for full details of how to apply.

Now it's time to get your diary out....
The new Stamptacular Sunday Challenge launches with our first challenge this coming Sunday (5th April), myself and the rest of my fellow DT are so excited and do hope as many of you as possible will be able to join in with our challenges. If you've not visited the challenge blog yet, why not go take a peak, to see what it's all about and you can become a follower if you'd like.

Sketch and Stash Challenge #7

I'm so thrilled to have been invited by the Sketch and Stash team to be their guest designer for the next two challenges and today is the start of their latest challenge. For this challenge it's an open sketch, follow the layout but we're letting you put your sentiment and embellishments wherever you wish.
The DT have done some wonderful creations, so please take a look, very inspiring.
Here's the sketch:

I've used one of the new 'Flourishing Flowers' downloads from Spiral Whisper and an Amy Butler paper from K & Co. I've coloured the image with copics and black sakura stardust on some of the flourishes then chalked the background in green. Ribbon from my stash, sentiment from craftwork cards, then embellished with some card candy and black gems.

I do hope you'll be able to join the challenge, and this week the team are looking for their next GD to follow me for challenges 9 & 10.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #25

The theme is 'Stitching' this week on SCSC.

Papers are K & Co, punched flowers out of the papers. Ribbon and lace from craft stash. Labels cut from using my nesties and added faux stitching around the edges using promarkers. Sentiment from craftwork cards chalked the edges in blue. Card candy to the corners.

Had a fabulous day yesterday at Harrogate and spent so much money, as you do..lol. Other than the base card, ribbon and lace on the above card everything else was using some of the gorgeous goodies I bought yesterday.

I went with Emma and we met up with some lovely fellow bloggers I hadn't met before, Marcea, her mum Nicola, Bev, Maddy (no Calvin Mouse, I'm afraid) and Diane all wonderful ladies and hope to meet again sometime. If you nip over to Marcea's blog she has some snaps of some of us.

3 Challenges, 1 Card

I've managed to combine three challenges in one card without actually realising at the time. The card was originally made for my first entry into the Truly Scrumptious challenge which is a great sketch and something shiny. After a little browse I noticed the card also fitted in with the ABC challenge G is for Glitter and the Creative Card Crew's challenge, warm colours.

Tilda is coloured with copics and glittered her wings and hair bow, sorry it doesn't really show the glitter in the picture. Plain card stock from scraps stash and dp is from the Dovecraft 'Amethyst' collection. Lace and ribbon from my crafty stash. Used nesties for the scalloped circle. Finished with some tiny Anita's gems and silver mirror card candy. Below is the sketch to follow over on Truly Scrumptious:

Retro-Kitsch

Here are a couple of GD cards I've made using the soon to be released Retro-Kitsch eKit from Making Handmade Cards, great for something a bit funky!!

The Sugar Bowl Challenge #7

Went to check out the latest challenge over on The Sugar Bowl earlier this morning and had a lovely surprise, I'd been picked at random as the winner for their challenge 6, woohooo, how happy am I, great start to the day. I had a choice of two new stamp sets and I went for the Gorjuss set 2, so can't wait to recieve them.

Swiftly moving on to the latest challenge which is 'Spring or Easter'. I've gone for Easter but with a very spring feel.

I've used SN Gorjuss Girl- 'A Little Bird Told Me..', coloured with copics. Papers are from PM 'Venitian Skies', so love these papers. The daisies were actually white but I've coloured them using the same yellow as on the dress. The flowers are from my crafting stash, sewn together adding blue beads to the centre, once the flower was attached I tied some light blue organza ribbon around it, leaving the ends to hang from the bottom. The sentiment is stamped, cut using oval nesties then inked the edges in blue. Finished with some card candy detail. You can just see through the top of the flower the sun is streaming through, if I'd taken the picture 10 minutes earlier, there wouldn't have been any sun, there was a right blustery downpour with hail included. A sunshine and showers day I think.

Whilst trying to take the picture of the card my little fur-baby, Mollie, kept nudging me so had to take a picture of her too, she's a right little poser and as soon as she had the photo taken she went off to sit in the sun. So I thought I'd share this pic of her with you all, sorry Emma Mollie didn't want to smile for this one...lol.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #43

There's a wonderful sketch to follow this week over on Sketch Saturday.

The image is a digi-stamp by Sandra Dry, this is Rosabella Waterlily, isn't she gorgeous. Coloured with watercolour pencils using a waterbrush and added a touch of sakura stardust straight from the pen to the wing detail and outline of the waterlily. I've cut the full image out and mounted her on to a PM 'Fantasy' paper. The base card is pink and white patterned from Kanban and the dp is K & Co. Plain green cardstock from my stash. Scalloped squares were done using nesties. Finished with some Prima flowers with flat backed green pearls in the centres. Below is this weeks sketch to follow:

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge #44

This week s challenge over on A Spoon full of Sugar is 'Easter Creations'.

The digi-image is a fab free download from Dustin Pike, and perfect for a boy's easter card. Coloured with copics, chalked background and inked the edges. Mounted onto green card stock from my scraps stash. The papers are all Funky Fairy. Ribbon and cord from my craft stash. Sentiment is a lovely stamp that I recieved in Dorothy's candy, cut with oval nesties then coloured rim with copics and inked edges in green. To finish, some card candy from my buddy Emma.

A glorious day here today so far, so much better then yesterdays blustery downpours. What a nightmare I had yesterday too, was off to Hull to upgrade my phone, when happily travelling along at 70 mph on the A63, when the car start judderring and making an awful noise, thankfully I was close to a lay-by, and there I had a rear tyre flat as a pancake, just as the heavens opened and I had no coat. Stupid me couldn't find the spare wheel after ripping the boot floor up, so out came the manual, and it was under the car. Thankfully Steve was at home and he came to rescue me, and job was done. I know I should of known where the tyre was, just assumed it was in the boot like all my previous cars. Anyway finally made it to Hull and got my new upgrade phone, so all ended well.

Enjoy your day everyone.

One Stop Craft Challenge #21

'Tag It' is the theme this week over on One Stop Craft Challenge.

The image is one of the new digital downloads 'Flourishing Flowers' from Spiral Whisper. Coloured with copics markers, chalked and inked the edges then mounted onto brown card stock. Paper is from K & Co as are the little flying bugs (not butterflies, not sure what they are, moths maybe?...lol). Attached some lace onto pink card stock and added a line of green flat-backed pearls. Sentiment is stamped and from the Clare Curd Range. Used some pink ribbon from scraps on the tag.

You can still do a scrapbook page if you wish or we would like to see an altered item or card which has everything on it. Meaning over embellish your creation. To be in with a chance of winning this weeks prize you must use at least one FF papercraft item. We hope this will make the challenge a little easier for some of you non-scrapbookers.
I hope you can come and join us for the challenge, myself and fellow DT members love to visit all your blogs looking at your creations. There's still a few days left to enter!!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

I hope my mum, my MIL and all other Mum's out there have a wonderful day today.

Two of the girls are home today and we're going for a lunch out with Steve's mum and his brothers and their families, so going to be quite alot of us there, lovely to all get together, not very often his mum gets to see all five boys at the same time, so it will be a special day for her.

And what another lovely glorious morning it is, hope it's as warm as it was yesterday.

I've just seen on the news that sadly Jade Goody died in the early hours of this morning. You either loved her or hated her, but either way she had been so brave over these past few months and touched many hearts with her courage and determination. I didn't hate her, she could be very annoying but entertaining too. I was, however, at the start a little critical of all the publicity and use of her illness for financial gain from when she was first diagnosed with cervical cancer, but all this publicity has had some positive effect, there has been a surge in women coming forward for screening, which they've called the 'Jade Effect' and the government are now looking again to lower the age of screening, and I can now see she was doing all this for her boys. Obviously no amount of money can ever replace these little boys mother, and despite what anyone's opinions were of her, she was a loving mother to her two young boys and only wanted whats best for her boys, like any mother would for their children. My thoughts are with Jade's boys and family at this sad time.

Cherish your mum's xxxx

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #24

I've been such a bad challenger the past couple of weeks and have missed two weeks of the SCSC challenges as well as a few others that I religiously take part in. I go away for a few days and totally lose the routine..lol. Hopefully I'm getting back into the swing of it again now.

Anyway this week the challenge over on SCSC is to make a card or any other project using your favourite colour. Well my favourite colours are pinks & purples/lilacs, not neccessarily in cardmaking as I do like to experiment with colours but overall these are my favourites. I've gone for the purple and lilacs for my card.

The background dp is from scraps stash, I'm not 100% sure but I think it's from Dovecraft. The purple card is also from my scraps and embossed it using my bug. Flowers are from my crafting stash and I've added a drop of beads and used a fancy button in the centre of the flower to hold it all together. Ribbon from my stash, with a tied knot and pearl brad. The 'Cherish' round is from Funky Fairys, cut using circle scalloped nesties, then mounted onto paper from PM, also cut with the nesties. To finish added some card candy to bottom left corner.

Well it's a gorgeous Spring day here today, was quite a heavy frost this morning, but thats all gone now. We have one of Steve's girls coming today for a weeks holiday. Some of you may remember a couple of months ago that she was really quite poorly and came and stayed with us for a few days. Well for weeks afterwards she still kept getting these migraine type headaches, losing feeling in her arms and legs and constantly tired. Well after numerous tests over a month, she was told she has a form of anemia, it's got some fancy name but I can't remember that, I didn't even realise there were different types. She is now being treated and within a day of starting the meds, she felt better then she had done in years and so much more energy. Her employers have been brilliant, as she hadn't done a full weeks work since Christmas, and they still paid her her full wage, so she offered to cancel her weeks leave, but they had said it wasn't neccessary. What great employers!!

Right waffled on enough, got a bed to make up and a bit of H******k to do.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and especially all the mum's tomorrow, hope you have a wonderful day xxx

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge #43

This week over on A Spoon Full of Sugar the theme is 'Little Gem'. They want to see gems on your creations.

The image I've used is 'Vicky' by the talented Chris Dark. Coloured using copics then inked and chalked the edges. The base card is leather effect black card I ran some blue sticky back plastic through my bug using the 'Script' folder, the picture doesn't really show the blue of the plastic, sorry. Flowers are from my crafting stash, punched some smaller flowers out of the black card then added a blue gem to the centres. Finished with some blue square gems.

Funky Fairys Challenge # 8 ~ Scrapbook Page

Gosh how the weeks are flying, we're on to challenge #8 over on Funky Fairys Challenges. Thank you to all who participated in the 'Door Hanger' challenge, we really enjoyed visiting your creations. The winner of challenge #7 will be announced later.

This week we would love to see 'Scrapbook Pages'. It can be on any theme or size all we ask is that you use at least ONE Funky Fairys Papercraft item on your page, to be in with a chance of winning a prize. The DT have been busy with some wonderful examples and here's mine...

This is an 8 x 8 page and I've used FF papers 'In With The Old'. These are pictures of Steve & Me with our biggest catches last year on a fishing holiday. The wording was cut on my cuttlebug. I've used a fishing float, hook & line and shot weights as some of the embellishments. The stamped fish are from 'Clare Curd's Signature Range' and lightly shaded with brown pencil. Finished with some card candy.

Remember if you don't have have any FF papers, there are some wonderful freebies available on the Funky Fairy Inspirations blog, on the right hand side bar towards the bottom of the page. And of course there is the Funky Fairys Download Shop where you can purchase some amazing kits and individual sheets.

This is a perfect opportunity to do something with some of those photo's you've been meaning to do something with, don't worry if you've never done a scrapbook page before, some of our DT had never done one before and I'm a novice also. Go on have a go!!!

My page is going to go in a frame that I bought from The Range, it's a special scrapbook box frame, a wonderful way to display your pages especially if you are not planning to do a scrapbook.

Hope you'll join us and don't forget to tell your friends.

Stamping on Candles and Sugar Bowl Challenge # 6

I've been meaning to have a go at stamping on candles for some time now, finally got round to having a play this evening. I had a few practice runs on an old square candle, and by the third attempt I seemed to have cracked it, without over heating the wax. So then I went for the biggy...lol, and here's the result...

I'm pretty pleased with the result. I've used SN 'Sweet 'n' Sassy' coloured with copics and sakura stardust pens. The flower rim stamp is from the Daisy & Dandelion range and again coloured with sakura stardust pens and a touch of copics green. Added a pink tartan ribbon tied in a bow, purely for presentation purposes, it would'nt be advisable to burn the candle with it on I don't think.

I thought this little project was perfect to enter into The Sugar Bowl challenge, where the theme is Mothers Day. You can either make a Mothers Day card or another card or craft project that you know a mother would love. Well I think many mum's would love this.

Sketch and Stash Challenge #6 and some fabby news!

There's a lovely sketch to follow for the latest challenge on Sketch and Stash.

I've used my new Candyfloss & Marshmallow stamps from Daisy & Dandelion. Coloured using watercolour pencils and a waterbrush. The sentiment is from the wedding themed Thinkable Inkables, which was included in the blog candy I won from Dorothy. Chalked the background and inked the edges in brown. For the faux stitching I used black sakura stardust. The blue dp is from my scraps stash and the brown card is also from my scraps and run it through my CB using the 'Swiss Dots' folder, the scallops were embossed using the 'Romance' keepsake board, finished it with some ribbon and blue card candy. The flower is from my crafting stash just added a card candy to the centre. Below is the sketch to follow:

My Fabby News!!!....

I'm really excited to have been asked by the Sketch and Stash team to be their GD for Challenges 7 & 8. Thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to working with you.

Pollycraft Challenge # 11

There's a great sketch by Lynsey to follow for the latest challenge over on Pollycraft.

I've used the 'Billie Daisy Chain' stamp which I won from Challenge #9, coloured her using copics. I've inked the edges in yellow ink and orange chalk. The papers are all from Kanban. Sentiment is from 'Clare Curd's Signature Range, stamped onto white shimmer card. The flowers are from my crafting stash and added some 'card candy' (kindly given to me by my buddy Emma) to each corner. Finally inked the edges of the base card with yellow. Below is Lynsey's sketch to follow:

I'm back!!

Thanks everyone for all your comments whilst I was away.

We had a lovely weekend in London and the Elbow concert at Wembley Arena was fantastic.
The weekend was touched with sadness though. Our second eldests close friend of 10 years was involved in a car accident near Grimsby late Thursday afternoon and sadly died a few hours later in hospital. Eliza was fun and bubbly with a beautiful personality. Her and Karen met at Leeds University and were flatmates during uni and for a few years after. Eliza often visited us over the years and became a firm friend of the family. She will be sadly missed by us all. One other driver was also tragically killed in the accident. Our thoughts go out to both families.

I'll be posting a card in a little while and I'll try and catch up with visiting everyone's blog over the next day or so.

Thursday, 12 March 2009

Oooohh look what the postie brought me!!

Angel sent me all these as a thank you, well Angel, thank you hun, you made me cry...lol. Angel has just started up a new blog today, purely for a her parchment crafts, so if you have the time, please hop over for a visit to My Little World of Parchment.

I also recieved today my February swaps from ATC Swappers, the theme was countryside. Four fabby ATC's, thank you!! If you would like to take part in the swaps, then hop over to the ATC Swappers Blog

We were meant to be going down to London today for a long weekend, but Steve had to go to London today with work, he only got a days notice. So he'll be home this evening and then we'll set off in the morning back down there. I'm not sure I'm going to be posting anything else before we go. So, I hope you all have a lovely weekend, I'll catch-up with a good blog hop next week, I'm sure there will be a lot of catching up to do.

What do I want for Mother's Day?

The girls have been asking me for a few weeks now, if there was anything I'd like for Mother's Day, as they normally send me flowers and chocolates, but they know I'm trying to lose a few pounds so the chocolates are out and I'm lucky to have a wonderful man who buys me flowers every week. So I've been having a think, and I'd really like something different this year, something memorable.

Quite a while back I came across this fab website called Red Letter Days when I was looking for something different as a gift for Steve. This site was perfect for fun and different gifts, with experience days, make-overs & pampering days, wine tasting and theatre trips to name just a few. I booked Steve an Aston Martin experience, and boy was he surprised when he opened his voucher. It didn't take him long to book his day and he absolutely loved it.

Anyway getting on, I wouldn't mind being pampered or driving at top speeds around a track, how fab would that be and certainly memorable. Fingers crossed the girls find some inspiration, as long as it's nothing that involves heights...lol

Here's Steve on his fab experience day, look at his smile.

Funky Fairys Challenge #7 ~ Door Hanger

WOW, we loved seeing all your creations for last weeks 'Blue' challenge, the winner of the lovely FF download and the gorgeous clock by Emma, will be announced a little later today.

Now it's time for challenge #7 and we'd like to see 'Door Hangers'. You can use any template or design your own, all we ask is that you use at least ONE Funky Fairy papercraft item on your creation, to be in with a chance of winning this weeks prize. The DT have created some wonderful examples for you so hop over to Funky Fairys Challenges to enter this weeks challenge and check out all the wonderful DT work.

Well as you can see I've created a door hanger for the craft room. With just a little folding the hanger also makes the perfect little goodies bag. WOULD YOU LIKE TO WIN THESE?? Well, this week as well as winning a lovely FF download you could also win this door hanger and the goodies bag, full to bursting with little crafting goodies.

I've used Funky Fairy papers 'Funky Meets Shabby Chic' in blue and pink. The flowers are punched from the papers then added tiny gems to the centres. The wording was done on the PC and the edges were inked. Around the hole I used circle scalloped nesties to make the frame. To make the bag I've scored two lines then folded so you have a small base for the bottom. Added some goodies into a little sandwich bag, then punched two holes along the top through both sides and the bag, then threaded some ribbon through and tied in a bow, so it holds the whole thing shut.

Remember if you don't have any Funky Fairy papers there are some freebies available from the Funky Fairy Inspirations Blog, to get you started and you'll be able to see for yourself the quality of these papers when printed, which I can assure you are fabulous. There's also lots of wonderful kits and individual sheets available to purchase from the Funky Fairy Papercrafts Shop.

I do hope you'll be able to join us for the challenge, we so enjoy visiting your blogs and looking at your wonderful creations.

Enjoy your day!!!

A free template for a door hanger can be found here.

Incy Wincy Children's Charity

Heather from Vanilla Hev'n is a co-founder of the Incy Wincy Children's Charity Inc. The charity shop on the website has just gone live, amongst other items you will find crafting goodies which also include some beautiful Digital-Stamps. Heather asked myself and some other crafters a few weeks ago if we could design some cards using some of the digital-stamps. Here are the cards I made.

This Koala digital-stamp will be available coloured or uncoloured, I've used the coloured image for this card.

This cutie was coloured with copics makers and I've added a stamped cake from the Daisy and Dandelion stamp range.

Please go and take a look at the wonderful digital-stamps that have already been added to the charity shop.

Those of you who know Heather, will know she has been working so very hard over the past few weeks getting the website launched, so please if you haven't already, show her your support by visiting the Incy Wincy website and why not sign up for the newsletter too. You can find out what the charity is about and how it was set up on the website as well as on Heather's Blog.

I would just like to finish by wishing Heather and all the other founders of the charity, every success in their fundraising.

3 Challenges in 1

This is the first time I've managed to combine three challenges, and I hope none of the challenges mind. I've followed the sketch over on Just Christmas & Birthday Cards.

The image is Ice-Skating Mimi from Pink Gem Designs, so I'm hoping this will fulfil the 'Transport' theme over on Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge. Coloured Mimi with Copics and a little clear Sakura Stardust to the snow. Inked and chalked the edges then mounted onto lilac and pink cardstock from my scraps stash. The paper is from the Pheobe & Maude winter kit from Pollycraft Designs. The decorative felt is from Papermania. The sentiment was done on the PC then cut out all the circles using the Fiskars shapecutter and added some white snowflakes. As it's a christmas card it also fits this weeks challenge on Fab's Big Christmas Card Challenge which is 'Anything Goes'. Below is this weeks sketch to follow over on JCBC:

WOW, never dreamed I'd combine 3 challenges in 1 and I promise I wont make a habit of it.

Build A Blossom

Jak Heath over on Crafters Kitchen has made some beautiful sheets called 'Build A Blossom', which you can download for free from her site. Last night I had a play with one of the sheets.

I made up the blue blossoms using Jak's sheets. Once cut out I lightly creased the petals to give a little lift and dimension then held the layers together with pearl brads. I threaded up some beads in 2 lengths and attached them to hang from the large blossom. The dp used is K & Co. The lace is attached to a piece of green card which matches the base colour, then attached it to the lower half of card. The sentiment was done on the PC, I then cut three different sized scallop circles, using nesties, from the sentiment, dp and one of the PM Venetian Skies papers, layered them together then cut out a fan shape adding a green flat-backed pearl to the fan base.

It's one of those cards I'm not sure about again, but I think it's growing on me. I loved working with Jak's blossoms though.

Well it's a foggy and icy start here this morning, and boy did we have some hefty hail and snow storms yesterday, short and sharp thankfully. It had started off a nice day so got out in the garden for a bit of tidying up, wish I hadn't started and my arms are paying the price this morning, would love to get out there again today to continue the job half done, but not looking likely at the moment can hardly lift my arms..lol.

Well I hope you all have a great day whatever your plans xxx

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge #41

The challenge this week over on A Spoon Full of Sugar is 'Torn Edges'. I'm not a big fan of tearing, not that I don't like everyone's elses creations using torn paper, it's just my own tearing...lol. And for this challenge I went overboard with the tearing, mind you if you'd been in my house last night when I was putting this card together, you'd of heard a lot of tutting and a few choice words.

The image is one of the new Gorjuss Girls, which was a RAK from my buddy Emma, who popped round for a coffee and chat yesterday, good swap for a coffee I think, you can come again Emma...lol. Coloured her with Copics, then did something a little different with the background, I chalked it in purple then using a waterbrush and ruler I added stripes, I was really pleased with the final effect and I'll be experimenting some more with chalk and water. I've torn the edges of the image and re-chalked in the purple. The papers are handmade papers I had in my scraps stash and again I've torn all the edges. Found a piece of purple mulberry paper in my scraps and so using the ruler and waterbrush again I drew a square with the water, tore the square shape then mounted the image onto this. The fabric flowers are from my stash and I punched some mulberry paper flowers for the centres, then put the flowers together with purple brads. Added some flat-backed pearls to the free corners of the card and image, which were coloured with peel-off markers.
