ATC Swappers Countryside - Encaustic Art

Well it's been a while since I've warmed up the iron and melted the waxes, so I thought this months theme 'Countryside' over on ATC Swappers was a good exscuse to have a play. This is the first time I've tried to create a scene other than fantasy, but I'm quite happy with the results.

It's also the first time I've used other media on top of the wax, The trees, fencing and flowers were hand drawn using copics and the sheep and my poor exscuse for a cow (in the last ATC) were drawn using sakura glaze pens. The first two ATC's are one scene, cut in half and are titled 'Ploughed Fields' and the last two ATC's are again one scene cut in half and are titled 'Hill View'. I'm really pleased with the 'Ploughed Fields' and these are my favourites, not so sure about the last two but I think they'll pass...lol.

There's still time to join in with this months swap, hop over to ATC Swappers, to find out more info on how to join and you can see all the wonderful swaps from the very first swap in January.

Right time to clean the iron and put it all away again then back to cardmaking I think.

Button ATC's

These are for a swap I'm hosting this month over on the Crafty Friends Forum, my theme was to include at least one button on each ATC. I've recieved most of the ATC's from those taking part this month so I thought I'd best get mine done, so this is what I've been doing all afternoon.

The rules are to pass on to seven people, adding a link to their blogs and also a link to the person who sent you the award.

A few of my favourite things...

Paul over at Crafty Blogocks is starting up a monthly ATC Swap, so if your interested hop over to his blog for more info.

This month's theme is 'Favourites'. I've done 4 ATC's representing some of my favourite things.

Here's a bit about each:

1. Represents my favourite colours pinks and purples, one of my favourite embellishments, flowers and one of my favourite techniques, stamping.

2. Represents another of my favourite hobbies, fishing and another favourite technique, decoupage.

3. Represents my ultimate favourite hobby, cardmaking and again the colour pink. This was also my entry to the Charisma Cardz Challenge #1. (see post below)

4. Represents my favourite insect, butterflies, one of my favourite crafty gadgets, my cuttlebug and my favourite for sparkle, sakura stardust pens.

Charisma Cardz Challenge #1

Carly's, Charisma Cardz Challenge Blog launched yesterday with their first challenge. This week's challenge was set by Carly and the theme is 'Pink'.

I've been doing some ATC's today for a swap and this is one of them, which is of course pink.

The little cards and envelopes are from Kanban and are pink pearlised paper and card. The cards are embellished with a re-scaled download from Grab-a-Doodle-Do 'Valentine Cuties' and heart background from my scraps stash, then a sequin flower from my craft stash with pink gem and pink ribbon. Added some of the pink ribbon down each side of ATC and two pink polka dot bows from my craft stash.

I'll do another post in a bit with the set of ATC's I did and tell you a bit more about the theme.

And some more ATC's

Been a little ATC crazy over the past week, done loads of swaps, the encaustic one's have gone down really well, so have had to add more ATC's to my swap site. These will be my last, for a few days at least as, i've plenty of birthday cards to do, it's a busy month for me September. We booked our holiday yesterday, no where exotic...lol. We are off to Devon for a weeks fishing at Angler's Paradise, we're going just after my birthday so that will be nice, now I'm praying for an indian summer from mid September, but apparently not much chance of that, so I'll be taking my warm clothes and waterproofs, thats bound to bring the sun out.

Well at least today is lovely and sunny, the breeze is a bit chilly mind, so going to go out and visit my godson, he has chicken pox, poor little fella and then I'm off to buy some discount tickets for the Max Papercraft Show which is on this sunday at the KC Stadium in Hull, will have to see if I can get some early birthday money for that one ;-)

Encaustic Art ATC's

I hadn't had a play with my encaustic stuff for a while so decided to do some ATC's, there is one individual and two sets of two. Though the sets are seperate ATC's, when put together they become one bigger picture. I really enjoyed having a play, inbetween doing a birthday card for my brother's birthday but you'll have to wait for the pic of the card as I know my brother visits my blog every few days, so I'll post it on here on or just after the 3rd Sept, sorry Daniel you'll have to wait till you recieve it...lol
Again if anyone is interested in doing a swap please visit my ATC Swap Site

ATC's & August Card Competition Entry

I take part in a card competition every month, where I am sent an item and a card has to made from it. This month I was sent a clown peel-off. Now, I have a fear of clowns, have done since I was young, silly I know. Anyway, after 2 weeks of pondering whether to do the competition this month I finally plucked up the courage to get on with it. All the card entries are donated to a chosen charity or fund raising event, and this month it was for a friend's fundraising for Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Thirsk, I'm also donating some extra cards as shown yesterday. So here it is.........

As you can see I shaped the card into a big top, for the clown collar, big top rim and flag I've used felt and funky blue wool for the hair. I've left the clown face blank so that the purchaser can place a face of their choice before giving to the recipient.

After the trauma of the clown...lol, I got stuck into some ATC's, as my ATC Swap site had been a little neglected recently. They have been added to my swap site if anyone want's to do a swap please visit http://www.freewebs.com/craftyjoanne/

Well here they are, some have already been swapped I'm afraid... Now can you spot the mistakes in two of the atc's????
Did you spot the mistakes? Well in two of the encaustic atc's the birds are flying upside down...lol, it's a mistake I often make when I add birds, and I often don't realise it. Oh well they are fantasy scenes and in this fantasy land the birds fly upside down...lol
