Pollycraft Challenge #74 'White Christmas' and GD Call

This is the final Pollycraft Challenge of 2010 and the challenge will be running for a month.  Along with the challenge there is also a GD call, so if you would like to be considered for a slot in 2011 check out the challenge blog for details.

The challenge theme for you as chosen by Jane is....

'WHITE CHRISTMAS'
You can interpret this as an all white card with only a coloured image or a wintery/snowy scene.

We also have some awesome prizes from Paula and Crafty Emma.
The DT teams have merged for our 2010 finale challenge, so there's plenty of inspiration to be seen I would show you mine but I can't seem to upload any images...lol, I tried this morning and again this evening but still no joy, I'll upload it as soon as I can but in the meantime you can check it out over on the challenge blog.

Yeah at long last I can show my card, my uploading problems have been solved!!

We do hope you'll be able to join us for the challenge sometime over the next month, we can't wait to see your creations.

Thanks for stopping by!!

CYDA Challenge #7

I can't believe we are already onto Challenge #7 over at Craft Your Days Away, where does the time go?  I can't even believe it'll be November on Monday either.

Our new challenge over at CYDA has been set by my dear SIL Mel and her challenge for you is...

'ALL WHITE'
We want to see white backgrounds with colour restricted to images and embellishments only please, the more white the better.
White backgrounds always used to scare me, but after recently doing a couple myself I actually quite love the clean and crispness of them, plus the ease of not matching up DP's....lol, it's amazing what can be achieved using only a one colour background once you use textures and layers.  Anyway, the DT and GD have some gorgeous inspiration to show you over on the challenge blog so please do check them out.  Here's mine...
 RECIPE
Digi Images - Pollycraft 'Mimi's Gift' and 'Tis The Season - Fireplace'
Colouring Mediums - Watercolour Pencils blended with Sansador and Chalks

Embossing - Cuttlebug 'Snowflakes'

Embellishments - Ribbon and Card Candy from my stash
 *****

We welcome back our wonderful monthly sponsor..
Photobucket

The winner will recieve a $10 spend in the Simon Says store with P&P paid for.

We do hope you can join us for Mel's challenge, we can't wait to see what you come up with!!
Have a lovely weekend, the sun is shining here so I hope it is for you too.  Oh and don't forget UK buddies an extra hour in bed for us tomorrow morning, the clocks 'Fall' back.

Emma's Mega Candy and a catch up

My lovely buddy Emma has some awesome candy on offer for one lucky winner...

Thats over £75.00 worth of Making Memories products, who wouldn't like to win that.  Well to be in with a chance you need to pop over to Emma's Blog grab the candy piccie, add it to your blog in the side bar spreading the word about her mega candy, then nip back to Emma's blog and leave a link with Mr Linky, you can also get a second entry if you also add her shop logo and link to you blog too.  Candy ends on Friday 12th November at 8:00 p.m.

*****

Well it's been a while since I had a catch up on how things are going.  I'm really enjoying my new job can't believe it's been virtually 2 months since I started and I seem to be settling in quite nicely now and know much more about what I am doing.  Unfortunately today has been a bad day and start to the week as my journey to work this morning turned into a nightmare when a lorry decided he wanted to move into my lane at a roundabout damaging the drivers side of my car and ripping off the front bumper, my headlight was totally missing and can only presume this remained attached to the lorry some how, I say presume because the lorry just carried on his way at a great rate of knots so quickly that I never got a chance to get his registration.  And despite it being rush hour and busy not one person stopped to see if I was ok or help, busy people with busy lives I guess.  All I can hope for now is that either the driver realises he's hit someone and reports it within the next 24 hours, the police find CCTV evidence or a witness comes forward.  I find it hard to believe that the lorry hadn't felt or heard anything as we're not talking a little scrape but I've never been in a lorry so I wouldn't know how easy it is to take someone's car out and not realise.  The main thing is I wasn't hurt, just shaken up and this evening I found out that the car can be repaired and all parts are ordered so I should hopefully have my car back in a week.  So that's been my eventful day, don't want to see another one like this again thats for sure.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Catch up again soon.

CYDA Challenge #5

Good Morning All!!

Oh my goodness I really have been neglecting my little old blog, still trying to get to a happy medium with f/t work and crafting, I'm sure I will get there eventually.  I'm starting to settle in at work now so hopefully things will soon come together, I'm sure this weekends golf on the TV will allow me plenty of time to get crafting.  Enjoyed my first night out with work colleagues last night, we had a lovely meal and then a few drinks and a little boogie at one of the local pubs.  Was shattered by the time I got home at 10 o'clock as we'd all gone out straight from work.

Anyway I do have a make to show you for the latest challenge over at CYDA which this time round is...

 BABIES

I nearly didn't have anything to show you as my dear little cat Felix decided he rather liked all the ribbons and bits on my my original make and just had to have it as a toy, the little so and so, it was beyond repair. But as luck would have it, I found another I had made sometime ago that wasn't finished completely on the decoration side....

So I've decorated it up a bit.  It's nothing like my original which I much preferred but it's still kind of cute and pretty.

It was made from papers by Funky Fairys (which no longer trades), I have added lace, a fancy bow and a button all from my stash.

The button in real life doesn't look quite so blue as it does in the photo.

We do hope you'll be able to join us for our latest 'Baby' challenge, we can't wait to see what you make.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Dotcom Gift Shop

I was asked by Dotcom Gift Shop if I'd be interested in reviewing one of their cardmaking kits, well you know me, I'm never one for turning down these kind of opportunities and I was so excited when a few days later a package arrived containing THREE of their cardmaking kits, so I just had to have a play with them all, as you do!!

All three kits looked fabulous each came with 6 pre-scored A6 cards with co-ordinating envelopes, die-cuts and foam pads

This first kit is called 'Make Your Own Flower Power Cards'.  Everything on the cards is from the kit except for the pearls which were from my own stash, extras in this kit were some fabby flower papers and some button stickers.

The next kit is called 'Make Your Own Monsoon Cards'.  The pre-scored cards are already printed with some bright and funky designs.  The spotty card has been made using items from the kit except for the plain coloured cardstock I've used for matting which is from my own stash.  The other I added an image using one of my new Stampavie stamps which I recently won over on a Spoon Full of Sugar and just added one of my own brads and sentiments from my stash.

And finally this last kit is called 'Make Your Own Playtime Cards'.  This is an ideal kit for the budding young crafter and comes complete with a small pack of crayons.  I made a card and matching tag using the die-cuts from the kit.  I have added my own ribbon and cardstock for the matting and used a woodware flower punch on the two corners of the card.

I was really impressed with these kits, the quality of all the items was very good and depending on what you use, there will more than likely be plenty of die-cuts and bits left to make more than 6 cards.  They are perfect for beginners and advanced crafters and ideal for those "I need a card, QUICK" moments, you can make a lovely handmade card using just the items in the kits or add to them from your own stock for a quick card.

So my final verdict on reviewing these cardmaking kits is that I would highly recommend them and think they are good value for money.  You can check out these kits HERE.

Enjoy your day!!
