Sketch Saturday # 37

This week over on Sketch Saturday is a fab sketch by Jeanette.

The image stamp is from Stamptivity coloured with copics, whisper markers and sakura metallic gold. The background has been lightly chalked in green and brown. Mounted image onto brown card from my scraps stash which was embossed with CB 'Divine Swirls'. The main background paper is from the Dovecrafts 'Fantasy' papers and the green marbled paper is from my scraps stash. Added prima flowers with brown brads to the corners. Hope everyone's had a great day today, the snow has virtually gone here but gosh there was a hard frost this morning. We went into Hull to pick up a few bits and looked for replacement bulbs for one of the fish tanks, with no joy, so mentioned to Steve about there being an aquatics section at the Range in Scunthorpe, so weather pending we're off there tomorrow, hehehe, even though I was only there the other day with Crafty Emma, it's always worth another browse and if we have no joy there, we'll go on to Brigg Garden Centre, which just so happens to have a very nice craft section too, hope it doesn't snow tonight. I'll be doing some blog candy soon as I'm not so far from 10,000 hits, which I really can't believe, it was only the beginning of December when I did my first candy for 5,000 hits. I have a few bits already including some fabby Stamptivity stamps, so keep an eye out for when I start my candy.

Just Christmas & Birthday Cards Challenge #17

This week over on JCBC is a gorgeous sketch by Janina. Loved this sketch and is another I'd definately use again.

The stamp is SN 'Snow Loved' coloured with copics and sakura stardust pens, waterbrushed sakura stardust clear on the bodies. Chalked edges in blue and mounted onto lilac mirror card from Kanban. Background paper also from Kanban. Added 3 silver snowflake eyelets to images exposed corners with peel-off sentiment on white card chalked blue and mounted onto the lilac mirror card, across top left corner. Used blue and lilac ribbon with a length of silver elastic with beads and sequins attached, tied together in the middle with a silver ribbon bow, all from my crafting stash. To finish blue and purple sparkling die-cut snowflakes from stash were added to the left hand corners of card.

Hope everyone's having a good day, thankfully hardly any snow here anymore, my snowman is now a heap on the ground..lol. I know there has been a lot of snow again in places, especially in the south-west, so all of you that are affected enjoy it, but please keep safe and warm. xxx

Clare's Blog Candy

Sketch & Stash Challenge #3 and Marie Curie

I've made some cards today specifically for Marie Curie. One was made following the sketch for challenge 3 over on Sketch & Stash.

Hopefully I've stuck to the sketch ok, as it was for a square card, and as you can see I've done A6, which is the size the cards need to be for Marie Curie, so I hope it's ok. The stamp is one I've had for a couple of years and naughty me never got round to using it until today. The image was coloured with copics and sakura stardust pens for a touch of sparkle, lightly chalked the background in green and inked the edges in deep pink. The oval was cut using nesties in the bug. The pink papers are PM 'Sweet Nothings' which I got yesterday in the Do-Crafts goodies bag, the green paper was from my scraps stash. The pink felt ribbon was also from the Do-Crafts bag, then punched the flowers out of one of the pink papers and chalked the edges in green then added flat pearls to the centres. Sentiment is from Kanban. Below is the sketch to follow:

Emma and myself picked up some Marie Curie bags yesterday from the Range, so today was a good time to get started on them. Here are the other two A6 cards I made (not following the above sketch):

Though it snowed all morning it just left slush on the ground. Luckily Steve set off from Manchester at 10 o'clock this morning, and he said everything kept flowing steadily and the gritters were out in force, especially across the Pennines so with that and with everyone driving sensibly he got home safely just after lunch, thankfully. Thanks to everyone for your messages this morning.

Well up until about an hour ago it was just a frosty morning, now it's snowing quite heavily. As much as I love the snow I really don't want it today, as Steve has to travel back from Manchester today. It's just started snowing there too, and he's hoping to set off around lunchtime, hopefully they'll be working to keep the motorways clear but I imagine it'll still be horrendous to drive in. I'd rather he just stayed there another night if neccessary. So looks like a day in for me and a touch of crafting I think. So hopefully be back later with some creations.

Papertake Weekly and a Fab Day

The challenge this week over on Papertake Weekly is to use hearts and/or flowers on your creation.

The image is one of Chris Dark's new digi-stamps available from Sketching Stamper Digi-Stamps. Coloured using watercolour pencils and a touch of clear sakura stardust in the flower centres, then lightly chalked the edges. Cut image using circle scalloped nesties then mounted onto green card cut into a hexagon. punched two holes at each point of hexagon then threaded orange organza ribbon finishing at the bottom with a bow. The background paper was a freebie from a magazine back from last spring. Added some tiny orange gems to the hexagon and green ones to each corner of card.

Had a fabulous day today, I met up with fellow blogger Emma from Crafty Emma for a coffee or two and a big slice of cake, with some naughty craft shopping too...lol, hope I wasn't a bad influence Emma. I bought quite a few goodies especially from the Range, and the little gems and ribbon in the above card are a very small portion of what I got. Thanks Emma for a great day, and hope to do it again soon xxx

Funky Fairys Challenges #2 ~ Dots & Ribbons

Well here it is my first DT creation for Funky Fairys Challenges.

This week the challenge is 'Dots & Ribbons'. I've used Funky Fairy papers 'Seeing Spots Vol. 2' - No.'s 1 & 1a.
The image is the free Newtons Law, Valentines stamp which came with the latest issue of Quick Cards Made Easy. I stamped him on to white silk card then paper pieced him with the papers. The scalloped circles were cut using nestabilities through my cuttlebug. Added three chipboard flower discs, which I coloured purple using a copics marker and then punched a small flower using the same purple card as the base card. Each flower has a tiny flat pearl in the centre. To finish I've added a purple ribbon bow.

Pollycraft Challenge #8

It's a 'Love' theme for the latest challenge over on Pollycraft which has been set by the lovely Emma W.

Firstly I'd just like to say thank you to Paula from Pollycraft Designs, I ordered my stamps yesterday afternoon from the new 'Sharing Sherbert' collection, and I recieved them this morning, hows that for first class, speedy service. They are gorgeous and I was spoilt for choice on which one to use first. Finally decided on this cutey 'Secrets', coloured with a mix of copics, watercolour pencils and waterbrushed sakura stardust pens. I added the little flying bug from the Sharing Sherbert Xtra set 1. Cut image using square scalloped nesties then chalked the background and edges in blue and green. The papers are HOTP - Clouds and S.E.I. - Groovy Diamonds. I stamped two of the corners using the corner stamp from Xtra set 2, on the opposite corners I've stuck chipboard hearts waterbrushed with pink sakura stardust. The sentiment was stamped then chalked and attached to the image using foam pads.

Sketch Saturday #36

For this weeks challenge over on Sketch Saturday there is a sketch to follow.

The image is one of my new stamps from Stamptivity, coloured with copics, then waterbrushed the background with sakura gold. The butterfly was stamped and coloured with copics and waterbrushed with the sakura gold, it's then been slightly bent upwards from the middle and attached with silicon. The background paper is a wallpaper sample I had laying around. For the panels I've used bronze wrapping paper, some have been kept plain and the others went through the bug using the 'Divine Swirls' CB folder. The sentiment is stamped then I inked the edges in bronze ink and lightly sanded. To finish added two pieces of fancy braid/cord (not sure what to call it...lol). Below is the sketch to follow:

I really don't like how this has photographed, it's not showing the true colours at all. The bronze in the wallpaper and panels looks silver, but no matter what room or light I used, it came out the same, don't you just hate it when that happens.

The snow eventually turned to rain last night, but there's still plenty of the stuff on the ground and it's rock solid, so the wet roads are going to be pretty tricky I think. So keep safe everyone and be careful if you have to go out, other than that have a great day whatever your plans. xxx
